Honestly, I don't know. But here's what I learned
I never had a dog and I still don't have one. But there is a dog that lives in my flat. It appeared in my life 4 years ago but back then it used to live separately (from me). When we first met (when I first walked into dog's house) I saw dogpoop on the floor. And, well, a dog, I saw it too. That was (still is) a cute and a very spoiled dog (still is).
Back then I didn't think this dog would live with me so I didn't pay much attention to the dog.
This dog is not a big fan of being a dog. I truly believe it believes it's a cat, but a very doggy one. From the cat it takes the home-loving, lots-of-sleeping, lazy (in sometimes a cute way) parts.
From the dog it takes all the dirty stuff: non-self-washing, neediness.
It's still an alright dog, not gonna lie (don't ever tell anyone I said that). All the good parts of having a living creature around come with this dog.
The thing is that there are dogs and there are dogs. This is the latter part. Not a dog-dog, but a doggy-doggy
The text below was initially a manual that I wrote to my friends. It was short but I had so much fun writing it I decided to turn it into a post.
We are leaving the dog for the weekend and they will look after it. Here is what I wrote in our group chat:
Feed dog
Twice a day, just one adultmalehandful of food, preferably dogfood. Feed dog before or after walk, it works as an award sometimes. Maybe a treat after walk if dog is a good dog. Water available 24/7 except nights, this way it sleeps better (and you too)
2. Walk dog
Optional. As you wish, but dog wants walk at around six and at around six. It can wait for up to three hours. Then dog will shit the floor. Dog doesn't need much walk: legs are tiny. After dog shits there's no reason to walk much more. Dog likes balconies as well
I am writing this blogpost after a 3hrs of an evening cumulative walk. This dog just decided that since we're not home (we are dropping the dog off at friends') it's not time to poop yet. It means only one thing: I will wake up having poop on the floor
3. Love dog
Optional. Dog likes pets and rubs.
that's not a rub but any kind of attention is a kind of attention
4. Change dog peemat
Once a day. Sometimes dog can still miss the mat, check paragraph 3. Sorry for that, I know how it feels.
I am about to feel it tonight.
5. Love dog
Yeah I guess that's the only way it works. As someone said about pets: they are a part of our lifes but we are their whole life.
